Renovation for Historic Hec Ed Pavilion at the University of Washington
Hec Ed Pavilion interior When DBM Incorporated planned a renovation for Hec Ed Pavilion, they turned to structural engineers at EISI for help with installing new roof supports.  The renovation called for two 220-foot, 110-ton "supertrusses" to replace 20 roof supports that blocked spectator views. The new trusses had to be installed without disturbing the existing roof or exterior of this historic building.

EISI's structural engineers designed a jacking tower system that allowed the two giant trusses to be lifted into position in just 12 hours, as opposed to the weeks it would have taken to build them in place. The illustrations here show the scheme for using the jacks with the existing roof trusses.
